Flying Dodo may be a microbrewery that makes its own beer. And it does transform into a vibrant pub bustling with a distinctively tropical ambience by night, but during the day, it offers the perfect atmosphere for a casual lunch out with your family. The best thing about this restaurant is that it’s found in Bagatelle, one of the best malls in Mauritius. Consequently, there are always plenty of things to do around to keep them busy.
Flying Dodo serves up some excellent kid-friendly meals including plenty of chips, chicken nuggets, battered fish, pizzas and pasta. Desserts are extremely indulgent with plenty of chocolate and ice cream on the menu. While the price tag may be slightly higher than in other restaurants, there’s no denying that lunch at Flying Dodo offers a fun experience for the entire family. Outdoor seating is also available, allowing parents and kids alike to enjoy a sunny meal, Al Fresco style.

This is the place that locals tend to favour for loud and noisy birthday parties for their kids. Indeed, Apache Spur is one of the best places in Mauritius to cater to kids and boast a kid-friendly décor, with plenty of ‘wild’ patterns and prints splashed all over the wall. It’s not out of the ordinary to pass by the restaurant and hear the delighted cries and laughter of over-excited kids whose parents have reserved a section of the floor for a party. Balloons are also customary, as are kids-friendly fares such as various types of sodas, burgers, French fries, crisps, upside down ice cream cones decorated as clowns and the likes.
Now, rest assured that the restaurant also offers plenty to adults as well: in fact, Apache Spur specializes in steaks, especially local venison steak, done just the way you like it. The price tag is fairly affordable, especially considering the ambience, quality and freshness of ingredients.
